Frequently Asked Questions

Alicat Purrfections top priority will always be the welfare of the cats in their trust and the security of their clients home. To give you peace of mind, here are answers to some of the questions I frequently get asked. If your question is not covered, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Are you Insured?
Yes I am. Alicat Purrfections is insured as a pet sitter with Pet Plan (Sanctuary). This is renewed annually and available to be viewed at the initial consultation or any time requested.

Are you Police checked?
Yes I am. I have been a member of Disclosure Scotland (PVG scheme) since December 2013 through the Thistle Foundation, a Charity based in Edinburgh. I do ad-hoc support work in Social Care with them. I am also individually checked and both certificates show I have no convictions. They are updated every 3 years. My certificates are available to be viewed at the initial consultation or any time requested.

How much does it cost?
£7 Pop-In 15 min visit / £12 Pampering 30 min visit. Charges are per visit, not per cat. £1 per visit, per cat to administer medication. Bank holiday supplement £2 per visit applicable on 24, 25, 26, 31 Dec, 1, 2 Jan and Easter weekend. Additional charges may apply.

Can I book a combination of visits?
Yes you can. You can book any number and any combination of 15 or 30 minute visits you require. There is no minimum or maximum number of visits and it is not based over a 24 hour period. I am flexible to work round your cats needs.

How and when do I pay?
I take a £2 per day non-refundable deposit payable within 7 days of booking confirmation. The remaining balance or full balance is due 7 days prior to the first visit. Payments can be made by Bank transfer, cash or cheque. Sitting fees are payable in full if you return before the agreed finishing date & time. Payment is levied from the first visit and until the last visit.

Does my cat(s) need to be vaccinated?
No they don’t. However, I would recommend that you do keep all vaccinations, worming and flea treatments up to date to ensure your cat(s) stay in good health. I do everything I can to keep any cross contamination of infection as low as possible (gloves, antibacterial hand wash etc). If your cats are not flea and worm treated regularly, then there is a potential risk of infection, which Alicat Purrfections can not be held responsible for.

What is the cancellation policy?
A £2 per day non-refundable deposit is payable at the time of confirmation. I reserve the right to cancel tentative bookings if a deposit is not paid within 7 days of confirmation. Bookings cancelled up to 7 days prior to the first visit will be refunded in full less deposit paid. If cancelled 48 hours – 7 days prior to first visit, 50% of the booking cost will be charged. Cancellations made less than 48 hours before the first visit will be charged 100% of the original booking fee.

Do you do a home consultation?
Yes I do. I arrange a home consultation a week prior to the first visit. I introduce myself to you and your cats. I double check the booking details, find out where everything is kept and how you like things done. See where your cats like to sleep, hide, favourite toys etc. I also collect a key at this visit and return it after the last visit. If you wish to meet me prior to confirming your booking to give you peace of mind Alicat Purrfections is the right cat sitter for you. Then please do not hesitate to ask, it’s no problem at all. I appreciate its a big decision and I am happy to reassure you that I will take great care of your fur babies.

Can you administer my cats Medication?
Yes I can. I am confident at administering all types of medication whether that be orally or injection. I am happy to inject insulin if you have a Diabetic cat.

Do you look after other pets?
On a request basis only. I specialise in cats and they are my priority. However, if you do have additional pets such as fish, a rabbit or hamster etc I may be able to feed them while taking care of your cats. Additional charges may apply.

Can I contact previous customers for references?
Yes you can. I am happy to put you in touch with any of Alicat Purrfections clients upon their consent. I have many testimonials; check out the Review page, my Facebook page and Google Reviews. I always go that extra mile for all my clients, nothing is too much trouble for Auntie Ali’s kitty Nieces and Nephews.
